Interview with Shaun Piccinino

1. Tell us who you are:
Hello, Shaun Piccinino here. Director, Actor, Stunt Coordinator

2. So why do you make films?

It’s my complete passion. Starting on the stage at just 5 years old and growing up watching my father direct and produce theater, I knew I also wanted to tell stories. I just found a slightly different medium to tell them on.

3. What are your top 3 favorite films?

Oh, that’s a tough one. So many that I love and will have to leave out. 1. Rocky (inspiration to never quit, see film making through to the end) 2. Star Wars (Original Trilogy, obvious reasons) 3. The Seven Samurai (masterful film making)

4. How do these films influence you in your work?

Rocky taught me heart, Star Wars taught me Dream Big and Seven Samurai taught me discipline. So they influence me and my projects in almost every way. I strive and dare to make something as meaning full & brilliant as those films. I haven’t done it yet, but I’ll keep trying.

5. If you had a million dollar budget what kind of film would you make and who would star in it?

Easy, a gritty Sci-Fi noir film set in the near future with action to match it’s tone. Some actors that are on my wish list include; Jonah Hill, Dane Dehaan, Summer Glau, Eddie Redmayne, Rose Leslie, Natalie Dormer, Kathryn Winnick… I can keep going… lol so if any of them are listen, please be in my next movie.

6. So how did you come up with The Lackey?

Steve Pisa (My Kung Fu Master & Co-writer) were training in the Kung Fu studio one day and we started spouting out lines from Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. We’re both Guy Ritchie fans so inspired by him we decided to right a single scene in this style. After we finished writing the scene, we decided it was intriguing enough to keep on writing it and see where the story took us. Not long after I booked a part in a film called “Phase Two” and met the film makers Rickey Bird and Jason Sanders. While on set one day I started rattling off some of the dialogue from the script Steve Pisa and myself were writing. Rickey and Jason expressed interest in making the film and the rest is history!

7. Where can people see this film?

The Lackey is currently available on iTunes,, Vimeo On Demand,,

8. What is one of your most craziest behind the scenes adventure?

Oh boy, there’s been quit a few. The head butt heard around the world… On The Lackey, actors Guy Grundy and Rickey Bird were just about finished with a fight scene, when Grundy decided to throw and extra head butt into the scene and man oh man did that not work out for Rickey. One concussion, some super glue for Grundy’s head and some make up powder later we were still shooting… That’s how we roll I guess. (No Rickey Birds were permanently harmed in the making of that film)

9. What is next for you?

Between filming motion capture on a few new video games and stun coordinating a few films, I just finished filming (acting along side the late/great Mickey Rooney) in Brian Barsuglia’s “The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” as well as Tymaine Clay’s “When Fever Breaks” (a zombie thriller) so be on the look out for those early 2015. Also check out my handy work on Bat In The Sun’s epic web series “Super Power Beat Down”. Also developing another web series at the moment called “Six Feet Down Under” staring 2x Mr. Australia, Guy Grundy. The Lackey sequel is also in the works as well as my action fantasy film, “Generation Of The Apocalypse”.

10. Where can people see more of your work?

Facebook is the best way to keep up on everything I’m up to and follow me on or visit me on

11. What is one tip you think other film makers should know?

Never give up, never surrender… lol okay now for real. Never get to married to one idea. When making films you’ll often have to scrap an idea and think on the fly. Big or small budget, film or television, it doesn’t matter. Learn how to roll with the punches and you’ll always be successful.

12. Tell us whatever you want!

Promote what ever you want! And make sure to send us some links to some trailers! Haha, think I promoted the crap out of my self in pervious question, but here’s some links to check out my stuff!
